My Mac Air got a facelift …
and I was the surgeon!
Washi tape to the rescue
and the keys.
I simply measured the key, then drew a tiny square onto cardboard and used that template to cut each piece of Washi tape.
for the case …
Easily removable when she needs a change.
My Mac is now ready for her close up.

An AWESOME pops of color!!!! Only you would come up with this one!!!! I LOVE IT!!! I think washi is the new POP of EVERYTHING!!!! So happy to be hosting the Pop of Color Linky with you tomorrow…can’t wait to see what everyone brings!!! Sending hugs to my jersey girl! : )
How clever are you?! Very fun idea. And now you’re also showing off your mad typing skills with a “look at me I know where all the keys are and don’t need to see if it’s an f or a g because I’m not a hunter and pecker typist. Those typing classes in H.S. really paid off haven’t they? …
Looking forward to our party tomorrow!
Linda
Best part – you can see thru the Washi tape so the letters are visible for those of you with hunting and pecking skills!
Those keys are awesome! And I was thinking the same thing as Linda … what if I get lost mid-type and need a key location refresher?!? Great update!
I love Washi tape…..I think I need to Washi tape my toes.
Do you think it would stick on the beach
Great project and I’m ready to party!
blessings,
karianne
Ha! Am I the only one that was expecting cute, coordinated ‘keys’ on your key ring?
SO clever!
LOL Fantastic makeover! I think you win for the most creative-looking keyboard ever! Love it!!
Every time I see Washi I read wasabi. My brain just does and I can’t stop myself! I love the pop of color though.
This is too cute. Clever girl!!
What a fun idea to personalize your computer! Love it!
Super fun idea, Kelly!! I’ll be by to link up tomorrow!!
xo Heidi
Sure maks it easy to find! There would be no; “I picked it up by mistake” happening, that is for sure! Cute
makes* hehe
That’s so cute! Love it Kelly!!!
Great use of the washi tape! I should do this for my lame keyboard, which is only six months old but is already missing some of the ink on the keyboard lettering. Probably because I’m a POWERFUL, take-no-prisoners typist.
I saw the washi tape keyboard @ My Uncommon Slice of Suburbia and clicked over, and look who it is! I should have guessed it, Kelly! Great fun! Getting my color post ready now…
How cute and oh so colorful Kelly:) Just like you!
What is Washi tape?. . .and where do I get it? Boy, am I out of the loop. I’m part of the Pepsi Generation. Remember those ads? Nah, you are too young and good for you too.
Been thinking of decorating my notebook.
~ ~Ahrisha~ ~
Ahrisha – I’m a Pepsi Generation gal too! Washi is Japanese tape that comes in tons of colors/patterns and easily removable so it’s great for crafts. I found mine at Target! You can find it on Etsy, Michaels and I’m sure lots of other places.
So cool! Can you still see the letters through the tape? I hate to admit it, but I still like to look at the keyboard as I type. Sometimes I won’t look and everything is fine and dandy, then I realize I’m typing-by-touch, or whatever they called it in high school, and I freak out and can’t keep going:)

How neat is that! Very cool new do for your Mac. I’ve never used Washi tape but have seen a ton of projects lately using it. Yours is one of the neatest I’ve seen recently. Might just have to find me some Washi tape to play around with. Looks like you had a lot of patience cutting out all those little squares.
BTW~Thanks for stopping by my little blog and leaving a sweet comment. (Yahoo’s not sending a message to me yet, so I wanted to stop by here to say “Thanks”
What a fun idea! You come up with so many neat things… I never would have thought to use Washi tape this way, but why not? Way prettier than the standard keys, and if you really need to peak, I like that you can still see through the tape a little
And your laptop case is just plain cheery!
Kelly….serioiusly, i can see it now….the next generation of Apple computers will have a choice of designer keys!…Go hurry and apply for the patent!!….This is fantastic!!….
What great ideas…I am loving your keyboard! Thank you so much for sharing…love your blog. xoxox
I love the idea of putting washi tape on the keyboard! Super cute!
L.o.v.e. the keyboard! How does it stand up to the use you give it. I confess, I get out so little, I haven’t even bought any tape to play with.
Janet
Such a cute idea! Would totally never work for me b/c I STILL need to see the keypad! Aren’t those colors cuuuute!
Id love to have a Mac air!
Thanks so much for linking up at I Gotta Create! <3 Christina
Very cute! If I could get away with it on our computer I think I want to give it a try.
I just love those keys! So colorful, fun and unique. Sorry I missed you at BlogHer maybe next time we will meet outside of the blogoverse
This is so cute!! I especially love the keyboard – it’s so colorful!
