Remember my vintage Pyrex and my Pyrex centerpiece?

Papa bowl, mama bowl and tween bowl were a happy family but always felt something was missing.

So imagine my surprise when I spotted this lonely little baby bowl at an estate sale.

I think I heard it call out “mama”!

It feels so good to reunite this happy little family.

  1. Oh my – My mother has all 4 of those bowls in the top picture. She got them as a wedding present, since she has never had a dishwasher, they still gleam and I will get them one day. I received the peach bowl set when I married over 30 years ago – I still have the set but the husband? No, not so much. I am up (it’s 4AM here) with my list and maps – there 8 sales in town today – not bad for early spring – and I plan to hit every single one of them!!

  2. I’ve been enjoying your posts about thrifting. So fun. These bowls are particularly fantastic! I’ve grown to love these things. My old pyrex bowls are the only ones that aren’t chipped. The newer stuff just doesn’t withstand the abuse we throw at our kitchen bowls! Have a great day!

  3. Love it kelly! I haven’t seen any of the blue ones in my fave shops just the peach, have one of those. I know how you feel about finding a missing piece, happy for you dear, and happy for all of us that spring shopping is here!

  4. I just ADORE those!!!!!!! I have my moms brown & cream & some white with blue. I just love these tones in these ones you have here. I will have to get out & hunt a bit.

  5. I have never seen this pattern but it would go perfectly with my vintage dishes! How great to find that little one to complete the set! I’m going to look for this pattern for myself!

  6. Beautiful…ah, the memories. I’ve seen some at the local antiques market, but a bit pricey for me.
Still snow & cold here, so no yard sales yet, but I have been scouting the thrift & antique stores. Can’t wait till yard sale season!!
    Debbie 🙂

  7. My first flea market of the season was last week and my heart actually started to flutter, lol. I scored two vintage Maxwell House tins (among other things) from the original Hoboken factory. I think I’ve told you our ‘city house’ is in Hoboken…so I brought them to their rightful home.

  8. Serendipitous! Fab find!

Small world – I just got an entire set at a rummage sale, same colour, all four bowls, in mint condition, for $5. Can you say vintage, thrifty, love?

My mom has a pink set. I think she bought them new! She’s been using them for years. Always hand washes them and they still look great.

  9. Glad you have gotten your set together. That is one of the nicest colors. I have a few of those, love them, but don’t use them. There is also covered refrigerator dishes in that pattern. I have one small one, but I bet there is several sizes … another step to building your collection.
    Good luck,

  10. Awesome Kelly! Kind of a wonderful feeling when you find a piece that completes a set! We must be on the same wave length today. I stopped at one of my favorite places and scored big time too! I’ve always loved pie birds. They remind me of baking with my grandmother. Sure enough…there they were. Calling my name. I covered my ears but it didn’t help! Six of them for $3.00. Guess who came home with me….

  11. I just love stories of families separated and reunited by the kindness of a stranger. You did a good thing here Kelly. I am bit verclempt.

  12. How exciting! They are so hard to come by. I came by the small bowl once at Goodwill and passed it up (it had a couple chips) and I kick myself all the time because I didn’t scoop it up because I haven’t seen another since!

  13. Love those bowls and your song choice is perfect! I just found a casserole in this pattern at GW last week…can’t wait to add to it. Come on warm weather and more sales! Thanks for sharing, visitng from BNOP.

  14. Oh, my! I love these darling Pyrex bowls. The color and design are so sweet. How marvelous you have four of them! 🙂
    Be a sweetie,
    Shelia 😉

  15. I love the pyrex! I have a single (med size) bowl like these with the teal with white design. I didn’t even know they had it with white with teal design. I love it (fave bowl). Thanks for the fun post!

Thank you for sharing with the rest of the world! Always great to see creative minds at work. 🙂

  16. I have this set and it was a wedding gift almost 50 years ago. I still use them all of the time and they are very special to me.

  17. My Gram had a ton of pyrex bowl sets so when I got my first apartment after college she gifted me with a blue and white set. I just love using those bowls – they always put a smile on my face! I hope you enjoy your set as much as I enjoy mine.

  18. My mother had a pink and white set like your teal & white set. I wish I had them now, but when my parents divorced, my dad sold them. How lucky YOU were to find the missing little one to complete your set! It WAS meant to be.

  19. My Mom received those for her wedding shower and has been using them for 47 years, she will get a kick out of hearing there are people who think they are worth collecting!

  20. Oh wow I love the bowls! I have several pieces in the same color/pattern passed to me from my Mother and have added to them over the years. I really enjoy reading your blog!

  21. Is there a name for the blue and white pattern? I have several corning ware type dishes of that pattern and wanted to look for more.

  22. OMG! I am in love with this! How cute would it be to have a little window box with mason jars in it? I’m thinking herb garden. You have just made my day!

  23. I like your ladder, so cute! Looks like a good time was in progress…I swear that guy in the blue shirt looks just like my brother!

  24. Hello, I’ve got a problem…. I was looking for a full set of pyrex mixing bowls and fell in love with the turquoise butter print Amish people pattern and the pink nutberry and the sunflower patterns from the 50’s & 60’s. So I bought all three sets. I do have 4 daughters but only one of them doesn’t have a set of her own. Not sure which set to gift her. They’re all in mint condition. Wondering if you all use them or just collect?

    1. I use mine sometimes but love displaying them more. You have to decide if you want to use and enjoy them or keep them in perfect condition. Whichever you choose, enjoy your Pyrex!
