Exceptionally Eclectic – Happy Lake House Tour
Home isn’t built in a day says Krista of The Happy Housie!
It shows in this lakeside British Columbia, Canadian home – with a collected look that’s pulled together with colorful paint.
Great mix of color and pattern.
I’m a fan of gallery walls, especially when they have something unexpected like those oars.
You’d never guess this was a $2 yard sale score with it’s textured paint makeover.
Ahh, to live lakeside.
Another fabulous gallery wall.
Love the cottage feel of the horizontal wall boards in the laundry room – you’ve got to see what a difference this made from the before room!
Check out that perfectly organized pantry!
The best part of Krista’s home has to be that view!
Makes me want to move to Canada eh!
So let’s sing hallelujah, come on get happy – at The Happy Housie.

What a fabulously decorated home! I just love the bright and cheery colors.
Can you please tell me all the Aqua paint colors that were used in this cottage. I love them
Hi Anastasia!
The hallway colour that is kind of a light teal is called “Colorado Gray”… by Benjamin Moore. The colour one up on the chip is called “Aegean Teal”… that is what we painted the front door and the living room coffee table. I took the colour from the broken oar that hangs in our living room gallery wall. It came that colour!! The light blue in the master bedroom is called “Blue Bow” by CIL, and the dark turqouise/teal in the ensuite is called “Ash Blue” by Benjamin Moore. I used the leftovers of that to make the turqouise chalk paint for the laundry room back door and cabinet doors. Hope this answers your questions!!

It’s such a fun house! I love how it makes you feel all summery!
That is the prettiest lake house design I have ever seen!
What a great feature. As a BC blogger myself, I always get excited to see my peeps, and Krista’s home is so fabulous. I could move right in, and am seriously tempted to hop on that ferry and do just that. Well, I have added The Happy Housie to my blogroll now. Wahoo!

Kelly,
I’m so ADHD! I just noticed you have these fabulous exceptionally eclectic house tours! Love them! Just toured the old painted cottage and now this one. Fabulous!
It’s a whole house of coastal/beach inspired stuff!! All I want to do is one room. One bedroom!! Can someone PLEASE give me some tips as to where to start.
Hi Sarah! Keep it simple – white paneling or trim work (like board and batten or wainscoting) always gives a beachy vibe. Stick to neutral walls with your white paneling or else choose a soft paint colour in the blue/green tones. Add some crisp white bedding with some fresh modern geometric throw pillows, and consider a vintage feeling quilt or coverlet in a stripe or floral- even if it is just a small one folded at the end of the bed. Furniture can be rustic wood, vintage metal, or painted wood finishes – lots of white is always beachy but I also love some fresh bright pieces of furniture (like a painted dresser or nightstands). Try to use some natural materials in your accessories such as a wicker chair, jute wrapped lamp bases, and objects from nature like driftwood. You can even use old paddles or water accessories (like skim boards or waterskis) on the wall for a coastal vibe. Search google or pinterest for coastal bedroom ideas and I bet you will be overwhelmed with image-inspiration!! Good luck:)
Your house is beautiful! The way you’ve used colour is gorgeous, I couldn’t help smiling as I went on a virtual tour of your lovely home. Thank you Krista
