Eclectic Home Tour – Upstate Country House

Sarah Gray Miller Home Tour - what an amazing country kitchen kellyelko.com

As we speak, I’m at the Country Living Fair – preparing to speak on stage about summer decorating and party ideas!

Exactly one year ago, I went to the Country Living Fair where I met Sarah Gray Miller, the editor in chief of Country Living magazine (she’s since moved on to other things).

She had me at y’all and we’ve kept in touch since.

Tonight, I’ll be heading to her home in upstate NY (she’s originally from Mississippi) for cocktails.

I can’t wait to see her gorgeous home in person – in the meantime, check out her stunning renovation.

Sarah Gray is a hoarder … I mean collector after my own heart.

Miller says, “I buy cheap stuff, I just buy a lot of it” (sounds familiar)!

Now this is the gallery wall of an eclectic collector.

The bathroom is Sarah Gray’s favorite room in her house and I can see why.

She says the before was a nightmare but she scoured antiques shops for thrifty finds like the vintage claw foot tub …

That’s Sarah Gray, her hubby Tony, their dogs Mr. Chips and Baxter and their amazing wallpaper!

  1. Well that certainly is eclectic but I am afraid a little on the bizarre side of electic for my taste. I love your home tours (so unique,) and your blog.

  2. Kelly, sooooo excited for you! I have always wanted to go to the country living fairs. My son actually lives in Atlanta! Maybe this fall! It’s definitely the thrill of the hunt! I enjoyed Sarah’s home in CL mag. My husband has renewed my subscription since I997. Things have sure changed in country style over the years! I enjoy your blog so much. Thank you for all the time you put into it, you definitely add to my inspiration list!

  3. i am quite sure her home is the mostest favouritest that i have ever seen in country living. mainly because her style so resembles my own. i am already missing her influence at country living. i would love to see more photos of her home and style. i do follow mr.chips though so sometimes catch glimpses. great tour choice.

  4. I so envy you being at CL fair. Im trying to get my husband to turn the fall Atlanta event into a trip to see our kids too. I’ll try anything to get there. Thanks for sharing and being our eyes in Sarahs house. Love her style. Barbara Ann

  5. Kelly – it was so nice to meet you at the Country Living Fair this past weekend…I love this home tour of Sarah’s space….it is awesome! Great blog and amazing ideas…so glad we connected 🙂

  6. I love the the neutral tones and the vintage feel of this home, the combination adds a unique style that i adore. The homeowners have really got an understanding of how to use vintage and antiques to create a beautiful and interesting home. I have pinned several of these amazing rooms.

  7. Kelly- the next time you talk with Sarah Gray Miller please tell her I miss “her” magazine so much. I keep reading and re-reading the issues of Country Living when she was Editor in Chief. The new issues just aren’t the same 🙁
