Entrance Vestibule Packs a Punch Reveal

It sounds so pretentious – entrance vestibule.

That’s what the realtor called it and I’m sticking to it!

It’s tiny – so why not add pizazz with dark walls.

Before – Oh, the Horror!

Mint green front door, red painted tile, peach paint and floral wallpaper – a decorating don’t!

Back to the After!

I just love this cute little room that leads to another door into the foyer.

Welcome – may I take your coat – very Downton Abbey!

A Target $5 clearance lamp, world’s biggest finial and a thrift shop jar filled with shells found at an estate sale (they guy threw them in for free).

Found the worlds biggest finial at a store closing sale.

I drove through the neighborhood trying to decide on a front door style.

Here’s what I came up with – love the huge window and the grain of the Spanish cedar.

Mental note – don’t wander around in the buff.

Fan-shaped marble tiles.

  3. What an amazing space to greet your guests! Love those doorknob hooks and fan shaped tiles and German sign and clear schoolhouse light!

And the front door is perfection …

    :)

    Linda

I love that mirror. *sigh* I always wanted a vestibule. Just so I could be out and about and tell people I had one. :)

    me

  9. It looks beautiful! Love the door, the tile, the light… such a lovely and welcoming combination.

  10. I am Enchanted! I especially love the little city sign. Gorgeous mirror, clearance? Target? Which one is the ugly item in this room? I love them all!

  11. Kelly,
We have a side entrance vestibule aka the Siamese sisters sunroom. Trying to decide which feature I like best — the fan tile, that gorgeous front door and hardware, the school house light, the giant finial or something you didn’t mention, THAT mirror! Love ALL of it. Such a wonderful way to welcome your guests.
    Deborah

  12. Not pretentious at all… So practical to not let the outside air into the whole house when you open the front door. We wanted an air-lock or double entry like that in our house, but couldn’t fit it. I LOVE the tile… it takes my breath away. The remodel is wonderful. So elegant, peaceful, and welcoming.

  13. I like the light fixture Kelly… it’s so pretty. But I love the flooring. It reminds me of a mermaid. Like fish scales ;) So magical.

  14. I LOVE that tile! It is so gorgeous!

  15. It looks gorgeous! I love, love, love that tile, and your accessories and paint color are just perfect! Oh, and the school house light is adorable! Very nice vestibule indeed!

  16. Gorgeous! Love the marble floors! Such an unusual tile. Love the chest and the way you’ve accessorized it! Thanks for sharing.

  17. Definitely “Downton Abbey”-esque! It looks absolutely gorgeous Kelly! I seriously cannot believe it is even the same space as that “before” photo. That was some kind of crazy color combo. LOL! You really did such a wonderful job and all of the details are wonderful. Thanks for sharing it at Inspiration Friday!

  18. It looks so much better! Love those marble tiles and the light fixture.

  19. LOVE the worlds largest finial, the door, the mirror, the floor..heck I love it all! Great job girl!

  20. The quadrafoil mirror is wonderful. You accentuated the space perfectly.

  23. Looks great…LOVE the door :) Laurel

  24. I seriously can’t get over those fan-shaped marble tiles!! Fabulous!! The entire space is just beautiful.

  25. Gorgeous!

  26. Kelly, this space looks so RICH! Of course, I expect nothing less from you… you have such exquisite taste. Love the unique tiles on the floor, I’m coveting your school house light and the German sign. I’m very sentimental over German things since my paternal grandfather was German…and my Dad has strong German features.

  27. Oh, loved everything, especially that wall-hanging with the vintage glass doorknob hook thingies ;) :) That’s really vintage lovely :) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)

  28. Oh I was just having the best time in my mind trying to picture the world’s largest lamp with that finial on top or the world’s biggest curtain rod with that finial and its companion on each end. “Curiouser and curiouser.”

You did an amazing job on your vestibule! I LOVE all your choices!

  29. Love it and what a transformation! Your door is beautiful–I actually thought it was original when I first saw it. Also love the mirror and chest and the vintage doorknob rack is such a great idea! I just posted about our entryway redo too but ours was not as dramatic as yours. http://www.urbanorchardinteriors.com/entryway-update/ Great job Kelly!

  30. What a gorgeous space! I love the flooring so much. It is beautiful. Where did you get that amazing mirror? Megan ~ your newest follower :)

  31. Kelly what a lovely space now! I love the tile you chose and your front door is gorgeous!! Love that mirror too! Thanx for joining THT!:) Hope your weekend is a grand one.

  32. I’ve been looking ALL over for a cabinet like that to make into a vanity. The ones i see are way over-priced (I guess that style is hot in California now). I’m going to have to resort to faking one here soon, which will stink. I love that piece and the foyer looks “smashing, darling”

  33. This looks wonderful. I absolutely love the front door, the tiles, and that mirror! Great job!

  34. Love everything about it but especially the mirror and tilework!!

  39. It looks beautiful! I’m especially in love with the mirror! Can you please tell us where you got it?

  40. I love those marble tiles (really all of it but that’s the part where I actually have something to say other than “looks good, I love it”). Kelly from View Along the Way just called scallops and the new chevron, so you are totally on trend:)

  41. love it all BUT…the tile is the kicker!! clearly, you are a tile hound like me!

  50. where may I ask did the mirror come from, I love it!!

  51. What a beautiful makeover, Kelly! I love the fan shaped tiles – they are so fun! You have added so much charm with all your personal touches and the front door is gorgeous!

  52. Love your entry. I especially love that floor. Great work!!

  53. Your vestibule is fabulous (especially the tile!), but I am writing this comment to tell you about your German sign. These signs were hung on the outside of train compartments so when you were on the platform you could tell you were boarding the correct train. The cities listed are all the stops the train would make, so your sign is from a train that started in Dortmund and ended in Munich and stopped in all the towns listed in between. I spent my junior year abroad in France in the 70′s and I remember train signs like that!
Your home is charming and I’ve really enjoyed looking at your blog!

  54. Love this space!! I love the flooring!! And your door… I love your whole house!! You have such a wonderful style!! Love!!~ Lori

  55. Where did you get the tiles? I love them and I have searched everywhere with no luck :(
