My Summer Kitchen and a 70’s Flashback
Are you a little bit country or a little bit rock and roll?
I’m having flashbacks to my childhood filled with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Devil Dogs eaten out of my Donny and Marie lunchbox with matching thermos.
Donny was a little bit rock and roll and I was helpless to resist his purple socks?
These definitely have a fun 70’s vibe and go perfectly with my vintage 7-up sign window treatment.
They make me want to break out my plaid bell bottoms …
or mix up a fruity concoction and serve it up in a vintage travel glass.
Of course, when friends come over for those fruity concoctions, I’ll be ready with my hidden stash of supplies that perfectly matches my $1 estate sale step stool find.
A metal chest from HomeGoods is filled with outdoor party supplies.
For the morning after, the coffee will be brewing to cure what ails you so add a splash of milk or heavy cream from the animal of your choice (I’m partial to the pig).
Now if I could just find a Donny and Marie thermos.
P.S. See more of my kitchen here including a red stove and my favorite lights made from demijohns!
P.P.S. Here’s my favorite fruity concoction.
I am sure that after a couple of your fruity drinks and i will be seeing pigs, sing…like donny and maire.
Love! I think I need that turquoise metal box now. 🙂
Nice summer throwback. Love the decor and your collection of vintage finds. I’m comin’ over for a Devil Dog!
I’m coming over for drink in those vintage glasses!

Gah! I love your kitchen … decorated in any era, but the 70s vibe is awesome. I bet your could find that Donnie and Marie thermos in some shop on the Cape!
your kitchen is the prettiest. and i love all your fun summer containers! i like to hide my mixers so my friends don’t steal my alcohol- we live in that kind of neighborhood and are a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, and a little bit ghetto.
Sigh, I love your kitchen and all the vintage 70’s (ahem, now I’m feeling old) stuff is way cute! I want to come by for drinks! I think I like the pig the best too!
Really nice job decorating, colors are very cheery. Brilliant use of the 7-up sign, nice score. I am sitting here, trying to talk myself out of NOT going to Goodwill, because the other day, they were loaded with good stuff. Oh, this junkin’ bug is hard to fight…
Of course I should have my Barbie thermos displayed in my kitchen. What was I thinking keeping it in my memory box? The lunchbox and dolls got away from me somehow but I’ve got that thermos!
It is lovely! Thanks for taking down memory lane 🙂
Kelly, I adore your kitchen! and that turquoise tin? swoon!
I totally hear you, I often find myself thinking how much cooler our lunch boxes were in the 70s…perfectly proportioned, great graphics [my favorite was my Shawn Cassidy box, but Scooby was right up there too], and a thermos tucked under a flap to keep it in place. now that’s what I call genius!
Tots love that backsplash.
I used to have a Donnie and Marie doll set. Shoulda kept those things!
Love vintage display of thermoses and glasses! Your photos are great! I like the numbers on the cabinet doors too.
I’m drooling over your backsplash too. Everything is so pretty
So cute Kelly! I’m a bit of both I think! Love this simple update on your kitchen!
Nicely done.
Ah, the good ole’ days.
I remember those metal lunchboxes, with our favorite heartthrobs advertised on them, we youth sported in the 70’s. Although, I loved Donny; Andy Gibb was my crush. Shadow Dancing…Drag me across the floor. I had the 45. 🙂
Love the blue step stool, picnic box and aluminum colander. I have a small version of the colander and enjoy using it.
LOVE your kitchen!!! That metal turquoise box…you’d have to watch that if I visited. 😉 And the step stool is just as fabulous. Happy to have found you via Rhoda’s blog. I’ll be back to you blog!
