A Day at the Country Living Fair

A Day at the Country Living Fair - tons of fabulous pictures! eclecticallyvintage.com

Hey y’all!

Yes, I’ve been countrified – that’s what spending a day at the Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY does to a girl.

So button up your britches and get yourself an ice cold glass of sweet tea for this visual overload.

If this doesn’t scream country, I’ll be a cow’s uncle.

I was lucky to have a private chat with Sarah Gray Miller – the editor-in-chief of Country Living magazine!

She told me about her unusual middle name and since she was a kid, everyone has called her Sarah Gray.

My new BFF is Cari of HGTV’s Cash & Cari.

She’s very sweet and we had a great time strolling around the fair together.

Although it almost got ugly when we I spied this fabulous square suitcase that she also wanted!

Sorry Cari, I love you but all is fair in love and flea market finds.

That’s ok since she spotted this incredible coat that looks like a vintage Hudson Bay blanket.

Cari’s booth was one of my favorites, filled with finds from mid century chairs to vintage cruisers and tons of chairs in every shade of blue.

Spent alot of money though:) but so worth it. Loved all your pictures. Looks like you had a great time. We went on Sunday and it was so crowded, almost couldn’t walk where the booths were. I did find some great things, but wished I would’ve held off and went on Saturday. Oh well I will go back next year. I also met Cari and thought she was super sweet. I live about 45 minutes away.

  25. Looks like fun! Maybe I’ll get to the one in Columbus this year – it has been years since I’ve been there!

  26. Oh I’m soooo jealous! Sounds like you had a blast! Thank you for taking us along with you! Love Country Living! I thought of you this weekend. Husband and I took a drive. We came across this garage sale out in the middle of nowhere. They were selling the great grandparent’s place so? Everything had to go. We picked up two wooden knitting boxes with the stands, church cookbooks (like I really need more of these!), chicken nest boxes, and a librarian’s chair! The family was so wonderful. Just to know their treasures were going to continue to be loved meant the world to them. Poor husband. As we loaded the truck he laughed and said… I think we’re gonna need a bigger house! Here’s to great finds!
    Kerry

  27. Oh I can’t wait for the one in Atlanta in October! And this year I’m going to remember my camera!

  28. laura @ the shorehouse says:

I’m still recovering, lol. I didn’t realize how GIGANTIC the CL Fair was, so next year I’ll arrive earlier and/or spread my adventure over two days. I loved looking but didn’t really buy — once you’re a yard saler it’s hard to pay ‘flea-tail’ lol — with the exception of a gigantic antique cheese/bread board I bought from a TN-based vendor. That I LOVE.

Glad you had a good time, too!!

  29. Kelly, I love your write-up and your pics are phenomenal! I was there on Friday, but by the looks of it you had to be there Saturday or Sunday, because it POURED when I was there! I posted about it, too, but your pics tell a much better story. Here it is if you’re interested: http://thrifterindisguise.blogspot.com/2013/06/country-living-fair.html. Maybe we’ll cross paths next year :)

  30. Wow! It looks like you had so much fun. Loved the pictures.

  31. hi kelly
we just got home from our long roadtrip out east that included this fair. would have been neat to meet you. i haven’t got my post up yet but my experience was definitely different than yours as we went on friday. we felt like we spent the day swimming we were so wet as i see some others who commented had the same issue thanks to mother nature. we got some amazing finds and all and all it was a blast. cari’s booth was great and was slammed with people on fri.
i have been to the ohio fair and this one, hoping to go to atlanta in october. so far ohio wins in regards to vintage fare.
    loved the pictures.

  32. I wish I could have put in some shopping requests before you left! How fun!!!! I saw about a dozen things I would have bought. The whole day looked like shopping heaven to me. Thank you for sharing, I will dream of happy Country things tonight. Btw, I have a FlyingPig picture of a giant Flying Pig Sculpture to match that Flying Pig. I think it may even still be for sale at my favorite Salvage Store. Maybe I need it after all.

  33. such great photos! My mom and I had a great time with you Saturday. Glad we caught up with each other!

  34. I will make it to one of those some day . . . Thanks for sharing the amazing pictures! That flying pig pillow would have come home with me for sure! I have several flying pigs around the house :) Life to the full! Melissa
